Results from the CENTRAL ILLINOIS SHOOTOUT held 1/21/07

The Central Illinois Shootout was held at Clary Creek Upland on January 21, 2007, and it was a great success in spite of the weather. Early that morning, like 1:00 a.m., the snow started falling and by 6 o’clock, it was a mess. In spite of the conditions, most of the competitors and their dogs arrived on site and ready to run. The shootout consisted of 2 pheasants, 2 chukars, and 2 quail being planted for each run. Every point on a bird counted 20 points, full retrieves-10, partial retrieves-5, bagged birds-20, traps-5, and safeties-a full 50. Persons finishing before the time limit received an additional 1 point for every minute (or fraction thereof), but extra shots cost 5 points.  As the day wore on, the temperature rose slightly and, as the scenting conditions improved, so did the scores.  The winner was Jade, handled and owned by Josh Tucker. Results:
